Beverley Pool League

Please scroll down to the bottom of this page for the new 2006/07 rules.

Revised at Committee meeting on 15th October 2006.

To be read and fully understood by all team captains and players, prior to commencing their first fixture with this league

1. Matches will be played to World 8 Ball rules, of which you should have a copy. (If not, a copy will be supplied by the League, or you can read them by clicking here).

2. Unless otherwise stated or agreed with the League Secretary, all matches shown on the fixture lists will be played on a Sunday night, and should commence by 8.OOpm.

3. At least 3 registered players should be at the venue for this time to constitute a team. If it gets to 8.l5pm and less than 3 team members have arrived, the opponents of the defaulting team may claim the first frame, they may also claim one frame for each Ten minutes thereafter that their opponents are late.

4. Registration of players - after the first match this must be done on the scorecard in the selected line. Please remember that teams can only register a maximum of 12 players so remember to sign off a player or the player signed may not be registered. Once the scorecard has been received the said player is then eligible to play for the team. OTHER WAYS TO REGISTER PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Registration of new players can only be permitted up to the halfway stage of the season. Transfers will not be accepted.

5. Any team playing a non-registered player will automatically lose all games played by the offending player in that match. Subsequent violation of this rule may result in suspension of the captain and total suspension of the team.

6. League matches shall consist of twelve individual frames. Each frame will be worth one point, which will determine league positions at the end of the season. 2 Bonus points will be awarded to the winners. If the score is 6-6 then one bonus point will be awarded to each team with the responsibility to hand in the card going to the home team. Failure to hand in the card will result in loss of bonus and/or loss of points.

7. All registered players must be a minimum age of l6 years old. Entry to the venue will be at the discretion of the management of the home venue, and the committee will not enter into any dispute for this reason.

8. The home team shall select their players out first followed by the away team. The card is to be split into two halves, first six followed by the following six. A player cannot play more than twice and can only play one game in each half E.g., the player cannot play number seven then nine. He/she must play in the first six frames.

9. The home team shall referee all eleven matches while the away team shall perform the timekeeping duties. The home team shall break in the first match and subsequent breaks will be alternate.

10. All Referees shall be fully conversant with the Rules and enforce them firmly and correctly, pay attention at all times and ensure that conditions of play are suitable.

11. There will be a Player of the Year Award; the basis of results will be worked as follows. Each player will be given one point for a win in each match. If a player is named in the first six places and again in the last six places, it is his/her first named place that counts for the Player of the Year Award. If a team has twelve separate players, each player can win one point towards their total. In the event of a tie for the player of the year award, then the player's 2nd game in the matches will be taken into consideration, the the players win percentage and if still tied, a playoff match will be arranged at a neutral venue. Order of play must be stated on the results card. Should a player be named in their absence and they have not arrived by the time they are due to play, that frame will be forfeited with the opposing team gaining that point.

12. In the event of a dispute, this should be settled by the team captains and the referee. If the captains cannot agree, then that game MUST be left unfinished and the match continued. Details of the dispute must be given to the League Secretary, in writing, within five (5) days. The decision of the League Committee on the dispute shall be final.

13. The winning team, or the home team in the event of a draw, shall be responsible for the mailing of the completed results card. They must ensure that the said card is in the Results Secretaries possession before the following Saturday at 12:00 (midday). Any card that arrives late will result in the winning team having two (2) bonus points in that match deducted (or 1 point for a drawed game. After a further seven (7) days all points will be lost and the losing team awarded an 12-0 win.

14. Any team or individual who behaves in an ungentlemanly manner (abuse to opposing Player at the table, coaching own player at the table, etc) may be reported to the League Secretary. If two complaints are made against one team or individual then a committee meeting will be called to discuss and deal with the said matter.

15. The home licensee shall pay for the cost of the table for League and all KO Cup matches.

16. There will be no cancelled games. Teams may play games prior to the published fixture date but teams are not permitted to cancel games.

17. When a team fails to appear for a fixture without prior notice, then the non-offending team will be awarded the match 12-0. Any team failing to appear at venues on more than one occasion without good reason will risk suspension.

18. Any player previously banned from a venue will only be allowed to play at that venue with the permission of the Home Licensee. Failure to complete a fixture for this reason WILL result in points being awarded to the non-offending team.

19. Points gained will determine league positions. If teams are level on points in the league, positions will be determined by the most games won. If still level, then a playoff match will be arranged at a neutral venue.

20. None attendance of captains meetings will result in an automatic 5 point deduction. If the captain is unable to attend, one member of the team should attend on their behalf. Only one representative per team is permitted to attend and landlords are also welcome. Questions must be directed through the chair and by way of raising the hand.

21. Acceptance of teams as entries into the league will be at the discretion of the committee.

22. The committee shall offer themselves for re-election at the AGM before the start of each season.

23. As the league is officially affiliated to the English Pool Association, it falls under the umbrella of the East Yorkshire County Pool Association constitution (updated April 2001), English Pool Association - Region One (updated January 2001) and the English Pool Association. All of these constitution rules are applicable with the league and copies of these will be forwarded at you request.

24. In the team knockout cup matches, if 2 teams are drawn at home, then the first team takes preference for the home match and the second team drawn will have to be reversed to be an away fixture. This process is continuous until all matches have appropriate venues.

25. All rules are mandatory and no appeal will be considered unless it can be upheld without rule violation.

26. Playoffs - winners and runners-up of each league will win trophies:-

Winners of Div 2 promoted to Div 1
Bottom of Div1 relegated to Div 2

Second bottom place in Div 1 will "playoff" with runner-up in Div 2 for place in Div 1
